Built from love
for these hills,
and good design.

Kua Koeeli is offered by Sylona and Parag — a couple from Odisha who share a deep love for these hills and an appreciation for good design. After building their home in nearby Sitla, they became convinced that nature and solitude have the power to not only offer rest and respite, but to rewire the brain and inspire anyone who gives in to its charms.

Kua Koeeli is the fruit of that conviction — thoughtfully designed in a sleepy hamlet near Nathuakhan, surrounded by oak forests and birdsong.


The name comes from an Odia proverb — a place so secluded that not even the crow (Kua) or the cuckoo (Koeeli) is heard. That silence is not emptiness. It is the sound of a life finding its shape again.

Kua Koeeli is a single, inter-connected home with two full suites — each with a bedroom, private kitchen, living space and bathroom — and a third bedroom, welcoming up to six guests. Ideal for a family, a group of close friends, or couples seeking their own private hideaway.

Large windows frame valleys and oak forests, drawing natural light deep into warm wooden interiors. Heated floors keep you comfortable through cold winters and wet monsoon days.

The gardens

The gardens are as much a part of the design as the house itself. The boundary between indoors and out is intentionally blurred — berry bushes, apple, plum and peach trees grow alongside native forest species, part of a quiet effort to recharge the woodland that surrounds the property and bring the forest in. A flat lawn leads down to a small seasonal stream. Step outside and you are already somewhere else.

All meals are part of your stay — a seasonal menu prepared by our in-house cook, built around local produce and daily nutrition. Good food, made with care. The suites also come with fully equipped private kitchens for those who love to cook.

The property is scattered with verandahs, balconies and sit-outs — made for lingering, conversation, bird-watching, and morning yoga if you're so inclined.

Kua Koeeli sits about 7 km from Nathuakhan market on the Ramgarh–Sitla road, in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The last 3 km is a motorable dirt track — bumpy enough to discourage passing traffic. By the time you arrive, the world is already behind you.
